Halloween in July

July 17 @ 2:00pm

Don’t forget to get your candy, and Call Carol Campbell (705-732-6291) if you want to be on the map or if you want your children to participate.  We’re planning a little more structured event this year to keep up with boating safety, and less chaos.

Reluctant to host something??  Here’s how easy it is …

Coffee—just put on the coffee and tea (or just coffee if you like) and we all show up, with breakfast treats in hand!!  Isn’t that simple??

Crafts—think of an inexpensive craft (ask your kids if you can’t think of one).  Get enough supplies for 12 children to participate.  Put on a pot of coffee for the moms, maybe a tray of cookies and juice for the kids, and any of us with children under 13, will come … we will craft for a couple of hours, help you clean up, leave a toonie, and that’s it, you’ve hosted a craft!

Weekend Race Update ….

We had a great turnout for this year’s first weekend race!  A total of 20 boats were in the water and there was some good wind at the top end of the lake.

Thank you to the Withers/Wolff family for hosting the après race party.  There was also a great turnout for that!!

Ladies’ Night

July 11, 2006 @ 7:00pm

Debbie Cooper’s (705-375-1363)

The theme is “Hollywood North”, so put on some bling and join us!!

Remember — boat-pool if you can, bring an appetizer (or entrée or dessert) to share, and something for yourself to drink.

Debbie’s friend Bonnie will be there again this year with her NYC jewelry, so don’t forget your cheque book!!

CRAFTS

We have a host for this Tuesday (July 11) @ 10:00am.  One of our new members Winnie Clokie has graciously offered the use of her boathouse for crafts this week.

Join us up by Blueberry Island (just north of  Blueberry, on the left side, with the blue slide and the grey boathouse).  Or, if you are coming by car, take #69 to Clear Lake Rd., travel 5-10 minutes and turn right on Tall Timbers Road—it’s #80 (at the end of the road)

2006 Spirit of Muskoka Gala

Hurry and return your ticket forms.  We have reserved four tables for LJYC members, but the tickets are going fast!!!

As you may have already heard, the LJYC has committed to providing an auction item for each of our members — that’s 100 items.  We’ve done a little brainstorming with a smaller group—but if you have any suggestions or ideas, please share them with Carolyn Gagnon (705-375-5869) or Morag Fitzgerald (705-375-3044).

If you have items that need to be dropped off at the CNIB, they have asked that we NOT bring them directly to the camp.  If you would like to meet Carolyn Gagnon at sailing any Monday morning at or around 9:30am, she would be happy to take your item and group it with all the others to be delivered to the CNIB at a time suitable to their schedule.

Kids Social Report

The kids social held last Thursday (July 6) at the Badger/Vibert cottage was a blast — well attended and rave reviews!!  Thank you to all the parents who volunteered their time to providing a safe and fun time for all the 10-13 year olds.

What shall we read???

It seems we’ve decided on two books to start with — “Shadow of the Wind” by Carlos Ruiz-Zafon, “Three Junes” by Julia Glass and “Many Lives, Many Masters” by Brian Weiss.

Joanne Thring is hosting our next meeting on Thursday, July 20 @ 10:00.  So let’s get our pages turning!!

If you need a copy of the book, try Chapters online — they deliver in a couple of days for a nominal delivery charge — and if you’re on an island, call Mike at Foot’s Bay (705-375-2473).  I’m sure he’d be happy to accept delivery of your package.
